Six trials of interlaboratory quality assessment in clinical chemistry was performed in 1991 with 227 participating laboratories in Korea. We performed quality assessment of six times for sixteen items and of five times for blood gas(pH, Pco2,
Po2).
Sixteen items were sodium, potassium, chloride, BUN, glucose, calcium, phosphorus, uricacid, creatinine, bilirubin, total protein, albumin, cholesterol, triglyceride, alanine transferase(ALT) and aspartate transferase (AST). Blood gas included
pH,
Pco2,
Po2.
Participating laboratories were increased year by year, and now they were 227. The mean value of participant results are used as designated target value. Variation Index Socore(VIS) are used to evalate participant performance. Also coefficient of
variation (CV) was given as guidance of each method.
There was no significant change of analytic method of most items between last year. But ion selective electrode methods for measurement of sodium, potassium, chloride were increased. Enzymatic method for measurement of sodium, potassium, chloride
were
increased. Enzymatic method for glucose, BUN, uric acid, cholesterol, triglyceride are used in most participants.
Mean coefficient of variation (CV) of 14 items except Alt and AST was 7.6% and the range of the CV for each items was 2.4-12.9%, Especially, CV of bilirubin was improved than last year.
Mean of VIS was 96. VIS value of most participant was below 150. CV of ALT and AST were higher than last year.
In blood gas study, range of CV was 0.19-0.8% in pH, 4.3-7.2% in Pco2 and 4.02-15.28% in Po2.
